Regulatory assessment

EU Circularity & Digital Product Passport Assessment

Product passports, batteries, packaging: which data does your product actually need?

Circularity and product-information requirements may relate to different objects within one product: its battery, the electrical equipment and its packaging can follow separate rules. This assessment brings the supported regulatory questions together without confusing them, helping your team prepare the right product data, evidence and role clarifications.

Assess relevant EU circularity, product lifecycle and digital product passport requirements, and identify data, evidence and action needs.

Your practical benefits

Find the missing data: Highlight passport-related data needs, labelling evidence and open registration questions.

Set practical priorities: Create a reasoned action plan for product data, procurement, compliance and suppliers.

From scattered obligations to a focused data and action plan

For an industrial energy storage product, the battery, equipment and packaging may need to be assessed separately. The tool structures the supported routes and makes outstanding facts visible. It does not assume that every product is subject to a generic ESPR digital product passport duty; the applicable product-specific measures must be checked.

What you receive

A case-specific report covering supported circularity and product-data routes, relevant and unresolved requirements, evidence and data needs and prioritised follow-up actions. Use it to organise internal product information, supplier requests and Member State registration/EPR questions.

Two substantive report snapshots are provided for one case, each with a German and an English PDF. Retrieving an existing PDF does not create a new report snapshot.

How it works

  1. Describe your product, market and relevant batteries, packaging or EEE.
  2. Complete the relevant data and operator-role questions.
  3. Review priorities and open points, then create an updated second report snapshot when information becomes available.

Who it is for

Manufacturers, product data and sustainability teams, regulatory/compliance, quality assurance, procurement and businesses marketing products with batteries, packaging or electrical equipment in the EU.

What the sample case shows

An industrial energy buffer with a 3.2 kWh battery: what remains to be prepared? The fictional MiraVolt MEB-320 case brings battery, packaging and WEEE routes into one view. It highlights missing battery-passport information, QR/labelling evidence and registration/EPR questions, then turns them into prioritised actions. ESPR product-specific measures remain an open question, rather than being treated as universally applicable.

Good to know

Only supported, case-relevant routes are evaluated. National implementation details and evolving product-specific measures may require further checks. The assessment does not issue an official product passport or certify general compliance.

The 180-day period covers active case editing and creating the included report snapshots. It does not promise continuous legal monitoring or determine data-deletion periods. The agreed retrieval entitlement applies to stored reports.

Frequently asked questions

Does every product need a digital product passport today?

No. The specific product category, binding measure and relevant timing need to be established before that conclusion is possible.

Can the battery and packaging be assessed too?

Yes, within the supported routes, with each regulated object treated distinctly.

How can we use the output internally?

The report helps translate identified data/evidence needs and unresolved role questions into tasks for product teams, suppliers and compliance colleagues.
